Maria Lopez, AAHID CID, currently serves as Regent-At-Large for the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers and is a member of the AAHID Credentialing Committee.
She is President of Lopez & Parish Interiors LLC in Baltimore, Maryland focusing on senior living environments and residential healthcare environments. Maria’s area of specialization is implementation of culture change. In addition to new construction, she reinvents existing medical models into residential environments that residents and staff feel at home in.
With a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and over 30 years’ experience combining interior architecture and design, Maria is adept working on campus master plans, all levels of care for our elders through details required within a private hospice room.
Maria has served as the lead designer for the interiors team within a large architectural firm and participated in many charettes with owners and stake holders to build consensus for new projects. Maria has been the interior designer on two community expansions which received awards of excellence and were published in Design, an annual publication of Nursing Homes/Long Term Care Management. Her well received design of a special care space was the focus of a Post Occupancy Evaluation at an annual Leading Age conference, formerly AAHSA.
