Picture of Health: Handbook for Healthcare Art Henry Domke, M.D.
Though it would seem intuitive that some artwork is simply not appropriate for healthcare settings, one doesn’t have to visit too many doctors’ offices, clinics, or nursing homes to discover not everyone who does interior design – whether professionals or office staff using their own tastes for guidance – understands this simple concept. When selecting artwork for health care settings, it is essential to keep in mind the effect art has on the atmosphere of the waiting areas and treatment rooms. Henry Domke knowledgeably addresses the obvious and not-so-obvious issues in his new book Picture of Health: Handbook for Healthcare Art. This book will introduce readers to basic concepts, new approaches and ideas, and numerous resources that will prove valuable in their own selection processes. As an art consultant in the senior living and healthcare field, I highly recommend this book for all consultants and designers involved in improving the appearance and effectiveness of healthcare.
