CEU Compliance Deadline January 6, 2011

The AAHID credential, like everything requires maintenance in order to ensure its viability. For us as Certified Healthcare Interior Design Professionals, it's remaining current in the fieldthrough continuing education so that the credential does not merely represent a snapshot of your knowledge at the time you earned it. The Healthcare market and the people we serve demand that we can be trusted by end users, employers and the general public over time.

With this in mind, all AAHID certificants are required to earn a minimum of 10 credit hours of IDCEC approved CEU's in Healthcare Interior Design biannually.

This fall the transcripts of a random but significant sample of certificants were reviewed using the NCIDQ database. If a certificant's NCIDQ transcript was dificient in Healthcare Interior Design CEUs, a letter was sent to the certificant requesting additional CEU documentation. While AAHID does not require you keep a transcript with NCIDQ it does make the review process easier for both AAHID and the certificant.

If you elect not to use the NCIDQ transcript service, we suggest that you keep an active file of your CEU's with supporting materials as required for IDCEC reporting.

If you did not recieve a letter, you are assumed compliant. For those of you who did recieve a letter, please note that the deadline for reporting CEU's is Januray 6, 2011.

AAHID monitors CEU's biannually based on when you passed the AAHID exam and became a certificant. New certificants have two years before a CEU review is conducted.

With the down turn in the economy, we have had numerous certificants contact the AAHID Headquarters requesting information on where they can earn "Free" IDEC approved CEU's. In response, we have asked all Industry Partners to post when they are offering courses both on line and regionally. These will be updated on the AAHID website calendar. Please let us know when you hear of CEU opportunites so we can share the information!
