FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities comment period is open

The Facitilies Guidelines Institute asks all AAHID Certificants and others asked to please review the draft and submit comments and opinions.

How can I access the draft and the comment system?
Go to www.fgiguidelines.org and click on “Guidelines Revisions” in the column on the left side of the Web site. The draft is immediately available. You must register (create a profile) to make a comment or view the comments of others.

What kind of file is the draft 2010 document provided in?
The files are all protected Word files that should be easily downloaded and saved to any inquirer’s computer.

Who can comment on the draft document?
Anyone can register for the comment site, which will allow individuals to submit comments and also to view and give opinions on the comments of others.

How do I create a comment?
The 2 most efficient ways to create a comment are these:
1. Paste text from the draft manuscript directly into the comment system and edit there, using the format buttons available on the site.
2. Paste text from the draft manuscript into Word and edit it with the Track Changes feature turned on. Then, TURNING TRACK CHANGES OFF (this is important), paste the text into the comment system.

My comment wasn’t submitted; what did I do wrong?
Common errors: forgetting to select a comment type, specify a chapter, give a section number, or include a substantiation for your comment (this should explain why the committee should accept your comment).
