        <p>Jocelyn Stroupe, ASID, IIDA, AAHID is the Director of Healthcare Interiors at Cannon Design. With 25 years of healthcare experience, Jocelyn effectively connects planning, programming, branding, and facility management with cohesive interior design. She excels at working with designers to achieve optimistic interiors that create a positive experience for patients, family, and staff. She currently leads the interior design efforts at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria, Illinois, as well as participates on the Pebble Research team for Froedtert Hospital &amp; Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Ms. Stroupe is President of the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers.

        <p>Karen Muraoka is a Senior Associate and Studio Head in charge of the Interior Design Department at Architects Hawaii Ltd. (AHL) in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has been employed with AHL for 24 years. Her design specialties are healthcare, educational, corporate and government/institutional work. Karen is a professional member of both IIDA and ASID. Along with her position with the AAHID Board of Regents, she is the current Director of the Honolulu City Center, IIDA.&nbsp; Work in Asia and throughout the Pacific Rim has provided a variety of project types ranging from medical centers in Japan, a new medical school for the University of Hawaii, a capitol building interior space in Micronesia to corporate work for the State of Hawaii. She has received design excellence awards for the medical projects in Japan and Hawaii as well as for historical preservation work completed in Hawaii.

        <p>Peggy Lewene “Lew” Vassberg of Lyford is president of Valley Designs, Inc. She is the industry partner regent and serves on the board of regents of the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers. Vassberg is a former board member and former vice president of the Texas Association of Interior Designers. She is an honorary life member of the American Heart Association and past board member of the Texas Retailers Association. Vassberg has served on the board of the American Heart Association of Harlingen, the Valley Zoological Society and the Boy Scouts of America in Harlingen. She received the Texas Chapter ASID Legacy of Design Award for Healthcare in 2004 for the Children’s Center at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

        <p>Sonya Odell, FASID, AAHID has extensive experience in healthcare, corporate, and institutional planning as both a consultant and internal employee giving her unique perspectives and insight on capital planning, facility issues, and decision making and consensus among the stakeholders in for profit systems, non-profit, governmental, and private hospitals. Ms. Odell has worked on healthcare projects in over the US and internationally. She has been Director of Planning for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Managing Principal for PHH Environments, national interior design principal for Gresham Smith and Partners, and is currently Associate Principal for healthcare and academic medical centers in the Dallas office of architecture firm of BOKA Powell. She has spoken at many national conferences and has over 30 published works/projects. She is also on the board of Big Thought, an arts learning partnership that supplies after school programs for the schools of Dallas County funded with grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a member of Leadership Dallas, and on the executive committee for the Texas College and University Facilities Professionals.

Ms. Odell is responsible for operational planning for acute care facilities, interior design, planning, furniture/art/accessories for all medical projects at BOKA Powell and has a staff of 20 interior designers.&nbsp; She is married and has a senior Fine Arts and Fiber major daughter at Texas State University.

Kobylka, AAHID, IIDA, LEED® AP is a Senior Associate for HOK, one of the world&#8217;s leading architectural firms, known for their award winning healthcare, commercial, retail and hospitality design. She divides her time between their Houston and Dallas offices.&nbsp; She has over 25 years of experience in healthcare and commercial design, and she has worked on numerous healthcare projects in the US and Asia.&nbsp; She is a founding member of the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers.&nbsp; She has been a regular attendee at the Center for Health Design&#8217;s Pebble Partner meetings and is a strong proponent of evidence based design. She is also a LEED AP and understands the critical role that sustainable initiatives will have on our future.&nbsp; She has written numerous articles on a wide variety of healthcare design topics.&nbsp; Janet believes strongly in the ability of the healthcare environment to empower the mind and spirit of the patient to facilitate the healing process.&nbsp; Her work in healthcare design is a reflection of this philosophy. She holds a degree in Interior Design from the University of Wisconsin and a degree in Art History from the University of Minnesota.

        <p>Ardis Hutchins is  the  University of  Wisconsin Hospital &amp; Clinics Facilities in-house  Architect and Head of UWHC Interiors Division. Along with her staff of three, Ardis is responsible for space planning; interior design; establishing and maintaining interior finishes and furniture standards; furniture layouts; and furniture specifications for all UWHC facilities. She works closely with end users, consulting architects, engineers, interior designers, lighting consultants, general contractors, construction managers, in-house trades people, an art coordinator, UWHC purchasing department, and numerous vendors for owner furnished products. Ardis is the Architect of record for all remodeling projects in the inpatient areas of the main hospital  and various small projects throughout the UWHC system.&nbsp;  She is a graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of  Architecture and Master&#8217;s of Architecture. Her undergraduate major was  Interior Architecture. Her graduate work focused on Environmental Behavior Research/ Rural Elderly Housing.&nbsp; She is a professional member of AIA and IIDA and has broad, diverse, experience from living and working for architecture firms in five states: Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Ardis&#8217; hobbies include gardening, exercising, reading, and spending time with her husband Greg, two grown children, Luke and Christine, and family pets, Lacey and Juliet.

        <p>Betsy Brawley, president of Design Concepts Unlimited, is a consultant and senior interior designer with more than 30 years experience in environmental design and applying research to improve the lives of older adults and those with Alzheimer’s disease. She specializes in designing supportive, therapeutic environments for Alzheimer&#8217;s special care and encourages exploration and innovative design solutions to meet the special needs of older adults. 
</p>
<p>
Betsy is a past member of the Alzheimer&#8217;s Association National Board of Directors, a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), a founding member of the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID), and currently holds an advisory position with IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America), who developed the ANSI national building standards for lighting for senior environments adopted in 2001. 
</p>

Ms. Brawley has gained national and international recognition as an expert and industry leader in the area of environmental design for aging. She is a summer lecturer at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Architecture and the author of the recently released Design Innovations for Aging and Alzheimer&#8217;s - Creating Caring Environments, a detailed guide for a broad range of design issues essential to maintaining independence and functional abilities. She was awarded the 1998 Polsky Prize for her landmark book Designing for Alzheimer&#8217;s Disease: Strategies for Creating Better Care Environments.

        <p>Linda has over 26 years of professional design experience, with the last 21 dedicated to pediatric and adult acute healthcare facilities design.&nbsp; Through hands-on collaboration with patients, families, staff, and artists, Linda is able to create environments that strengthen the hospital’s ability to provide true family-centered care, and support the needs of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, cultures and age groups.&nbsp; Linda collaborates with the entire design team to create interior environments that enhance the healing process and reduce stress for patients, their families, and caregivers.&nbsp; Her strong focus on an evidence-based design methodology in designing healthcare facilities provides enhanced value to the client for years to come.&nbsp; As the 2005-2009 IIDA Healthcare Forum Advisor and founding member of AAHID, Linda provides leadership in the design of healthcare environments on an international level.&nbsp; As an industry leader, Linda has presented healthcare environment white papers at major conferences and universities: Healthcare Design, Health Facilities Institute, National Association of Children’s Hospital and Related Institutions (NACHRI), NEOCON, Stephen F. Austin State University, Western Carolinas University, and The Ohio State University.
