Janet W. Kobylka, AAHID, IIDA, LEED® AP is a Senior Associate for HOK, one of the world’s leading architectural firms, known for their award winning healthcare, commercial, retail and hospitality design. She divides her time between their Houston and Dallas offices. She has over 25 years of experience in healthcare and commercial design, and she has worked on numerous healthcare projects in the US and Asia. She is a founding member of the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers. She has been a regular attendee at the Center for Health Design’s Pebble Partner meetings and is a strong proponent of evidence based design. She is also a LEED AP and understands the critical role that sustainable initiatives will have on our future. She has written numerous articles on a wide variety of healthcare design topics. Janet believes strongly in the ability of the healthcare environment to empower the mind and spirit of the patient to facilitate the healing process. Her work in healthcare design is a reflection of this philosophy. She holds a degree in Interior Design from the University of Wisconsin and a degree in Art History from the University of Minnesota.
