Sonya Odell, FASID, AAHID has extensive experience in healthcare, corporate, and institutional planning as both a consultant and internal employee giving her unique perspectives and insight on capital planning, facility issues, and decision making and consensus among the stakeholders in for profit systems, non-profit, governmental, and private hospitals. Ms. Odell has worked on healthcare projects in over the US and internationally. She has been Director of Planning for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Managing Principal for PHH Environments, national interior design principal for Gresham Smith and Partners, and is currently Associate Principal for healthcare and academic medical centers in the Dallas office of architecture firm of BOKA Powell. She has spoken at many national conferences and has over 30 published works/projects. She is also on the board of Big Thought, an arts learning partnership that supplies after school programs for the schools of Dallas County funded with grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a member of Leadership Dallas, and on the executive committee for the Texas College and University Facilities Professionals.
Ms. Odell is responsible for operational planning for acute care facilities, interior design, planning, furniture/art/accessories for all medical projects at BOKA Powell and has a staff of 20 interior designers. She is married and has a senior Fine Arts and Fiber major daughter at Texas State University.
